Windshield made by Cam Grant and he straightened up the outside edges for a more correct look. Brookville body with the cowl modified to resemble the 36 roadster look and for the Duvall windshield. All machine work by H&H flatheads assembly buy the owner. Navaro heads and intake 59A style new Strombergs Isky Max 1 Mallory unilite crab distributor. The engine is a 1949 8BA bored 3/16 with a 4 inch Merc crank. Wheels and tires are all 16 inch with Coker classic's. Spring is a posies multiple leaf, radius rods are 1936 and shocks are 1932. Rear end is a 1936 rear gone through by Hot Rod Works with 9 inch ford axles and housing ends. 1932 steering box with 15/1 ratio and needle bearings for the sector shaft. MT 40 Lincoln drum brakes on 40 spindles with custom steering arms. The front suspension is a 32 heavy axle dropped 3 inches, Posie multiple leaf spring behind the axle on custom owner built bat-wings and hair pins. The chassis is an original 32 frame, one of the nicest i have ever worked on with a real model A front crossmember stock K member, modified for a T5 transmission, and a stock rear crossmember. This is not a clone but is a tribute to the ingenuity shown by Doane throughout his automotive life. ![]() We got the car running mid-summer 2011 in time to DRIVE to and win 4 Goodguy’s autocross events including Charlotte where Donny just missed a top-five for overall time and Angela was one of 10 drivers to run in the 39 second range.My inspiration for this car was the Doane Spencer roadster in the early version. We also swapped the Shockwaves for Ridetech’s new triple adjustable coil-over shocks with 175-pound springs. The car is now equipped with Wilwood 6 piston calipers with 12 and 13″ rotors and the first GMR floating hub kit to hit the streets. ![]() A Frame-Up fabbed stainless exhaust with Hushpowers and all stainless plumbing underneath the car with Phenix Performance Plumbing fittings at all the ends. We also added a DSE power steering box and a quick disconnect steering wheel. A Keisler T45 sends power back to a TrueTrac, 3.70 geared 9″. We added a 5.3 liter engine out of a 2010 Silverado with a Mast Motorsports wiring harness and camshaft. The floors and firewall are now steel and a custom fabbed 3 link utilizing DSE swivel link bars with rubber bushings replaces the ladder bar setup. There were some things that needed fixin’ so we stripped the car down, put the chassis on the table, and started over.
